Not well stocked. I have yet to go to this grocery store and get everything on my list. I have more consistently than I would like, had to throw away the produce when it does not last longer than a few days. More often than not I opt out of purchasing the produce because of the poor selection.

If I could give this store zero stars, I more than likely would. The only positive thing about them is their staff, and even they aren't always friendly and helpful .
This store is ridiculously overpriced. Being in a small town, you'd think that the prices might be a little bit better, but they're horrid. There are a lot of people in Belle River who can't afford their own vehicle or a way out of town, so they're screwed into buying over-priced food from valu-mart. A truly disgusting thing to do to people.
Whenever there are sales at valu-mart, you show up and they have very little to none of the items left after only ONE day of them being on sale. They under-stock for their sales ALL the time and are never prepared. It's just absurd. Not to mention that their sale prices aren't really all that good in comparison to other stores. It's merely just lowered prices from THEIR regulars, which ends up THEN being comparable to regular prices at other stores.
Their produce is also atrocious. A lot of the time, it's going bad on the shelves yet they expect us to buy it and have it rotting after only a few days.
Nothing about this store makes sense. I support local stores and business', but I refuse to support valu-mart. They are an overall horrible store to buy from, and I'd rather spend my time, gas and money to go to Tecumseh.

Iam a little shocked that people actually reviewed this store as having decent prices... I find the exact opposite. Often times sale prices are higher than regular prices in Windsor. I shop at many different stores: zehrs, superstore, metro, food basics, sobey's etc. I can see value mart not comparing to food basics, but their prices are higher than almost all of them. I likely would jot mind so much if their was a selection of products and the product was fresh.. but most of the stuff on the shelves at valu mart are close to expiry when it's sold. Everytime I have gone there I was disappointed that nearly 80% of the items I wanted to buy were about to expire. Wouldn't even last through that week. From bread to produce and packaged items! I want to support my local stores, but I refuse to pay more than the item is worth everywhere else when it won't even last a couple of days. The prices are not just a few cents more expensive. We are talking dollars more expensive than every other grocery store. I had to laugh while I was there they had he in Ketchup on sale for $2 more than it is sold in windsor! And it was about to expire.. how can you sell something for $2 more than every other store in the county and call that a sale?
There is no excuse for this. Belle river may be a small town, but so is Essex, Harrow Lasalle, Amhurstburg and Tilbury.. they don't have the same issues with their grocery stores.. Will not shop at Valu mart unless absolutly necessary for 1 to save me time o I don't have to drive to Tecumseh. But I would probably go to Shoppers or Food land first.. not that food land much better.. but at least their overpriced food and lack of selection is not all bout to expire.
